Hey, I'm Sophie: a 20-something navigating the throes of post-grad life, and attempting to have a good time while doing so!

I'm from (and currently live in) the San Francisco Bay Area, and I am a fairly recent college graduate. Right now, in the humble beginnings of my career, I work in the mental health and nonprofit arena part time--both of which I'm passionate about. Ultimately, I want to find a way to combine my interests in holistic health, mental health and making tangible, sustainable change in the lives of others (while obviously making a decent living, you know...). It's kind of abstract at the moment, but I have full faith that I'll gain more clarity over time.

Outside of work, I make it a point to spend time with family, friends, and my boyfriend--this makes up the majority of my free time. I love hiking, and will wander around for hours pretty much anywhere if left unchecked; most of the time, I'll drag my dog with me. Here's a page dedicated entirely to Willow, the most spoiled, stubborn and devilishly adorable creature I know. I also really enjoy cooking (I'm Celiac and severely lactose intolerant, which poses a fun challenge!), I'm getting back into photography, and perhaps most obviously, I love to write.

The Origin Story: Sophie's Scribbles

As much as I want to make this a riveting story, it's really not that deep: I have always loved writing, and for a variety of reasons, social media has grown stale. Social media can be an amazing tool to facilitate connection, but the toxicity and the difficulty of making engaging, long-form content isn't for me. What pushed me to make this website in particular was wanting to further pursue my lifelong hobby of writing and to connect with others on a deeper level. In addition to my Substack, this website allows me to have ample interaction with you, while also giving me the creative freedom that I seek as I grow further into adulthood.
